How do I edit my profile?

Go to the Settings and there choose "Profile". You can edit your settings here as you like.

How do I change my email address?

You can change your email address in your profile.

Who can see my email address?

You can define who can see your email address by going to Tools > Options > Profile (Win/Linux) or Preferences > Profile (Mac) (choose email address and click on "edit").

I forgot my password, what now?

You can request your password hint with the link in the login window. If your password hint does not help you, we cannot do anything about it. Since your password never leaves your computer, we do not know your password. We cannot recover your password.

Why can't you send me my password?

Wuala encrypts and decrypts all files locally. Your password never leaves your computer, hence, we do not know your password. This protects your privacy, but also means that apart from sending you password hint (specified when creating your account or check your account settings) we cannot help you recovering it.

What is the password hint?

The password hint is a sentence or question that should hint you to your password. Let’s say your password is “venice”. In this case your password hint might be: “Where was my best vacation?” You have specified your password hint when creating your account. Check your account settings to change or modify your password hint.

How do I change my password?

You can change your password in the Settings under "Account".

Can I change my username?

No, you cannot change your username.

How do I delete my account?

Please write us an email. It is important to state your username and send the email from the email address you specified in Wuala.

Can I add my real name?

Yes, you can. Click on your username in your profile and add your real name. Your friends will now be able to find and recognize you better. Please note that your username is still displayed after your real name.

Cannot uncheck "Display family friendly content only"

If you can not select "Display family friendly content only" in your account there are three possibilities:

• You are still a minor.
• The default date of birth 01.01.1970 is set. Please correct the date of birth in your profile. You now have the opportunity to select the checkbox.
• No date of birth is set at all.

What kind of password should I use?

Use a strong but memorable password. Your password should be easy for you to remember, but difficult for others to guess.

1. Think of a sentence that you can easily remember. For example: “I like Wuala a lot!”
2. Pick the first and the last letter of each word. "like" becomes "le" and the whole sentence becomes "Ilewaalt". This is already quite good for a password.
3. You can further improve your password by mixing uppercase with lowercase letters and adding numbers. Take care with special characters like 'é' as they cannot easily be found on every keyboard.

Please remember: Your password is very important. Since it never leaves your computer, we do not know it. If you forget your password we cannot recover it.
