What can I do with the backup feature?

The backup feature allows you to specify a folder from your local hard drive to automatically be backed up to Wuala. Here you can find a tutorial.

Can I edit files in my source folder (on computer)?

Yes, of course you can. They will be uploaded with the next backup.

Can I share my backup folder (on Wuala) with my friends?

Yes, you can.

What If I lose my connection to Wuala during a backup?

Wuala will try again later.

What if my computer is not turned on during a backup?

In case your computer is not turned on, Wuala will try again later.

What if Wuala is not running during a scheduled backup?

If Wuala is not running on your computer, Wuala will try again later.

How do I change the source folder?

Right-click on the backup folder and choose "Backup settings". There you can edit your source folder.

Which backup intervals are possible?

Continuous, hourly, weekly and monthly.

Can I edit files in my backup folder in Wuala?

No, this is not possible. You have only read access to a backup folder in Wuala. Please change the file in the original folder, the changes will be merged during the next synchronization to Wuala.

What are the meaning of the icons?

  • The green tick says that the backup has been successful
  • The hourglass means that the backup is in progress
  • The red cross means that the backup was not successful for different reason (explained in the log)
  • The yellow triangle means that one or more file could not be processed during a backup or syncronisation run (also explained more detailed in the log)

My trash keeps getting bigger

If your trash keeps getting bigger even if you don't delete any files that may have the following reason: you have set a backup and/or a sync task. If files in the local folder are removed, they will be moved in the trash folder in Wuala. They are still available on the travel time function as long as you do not empty the trash. By emptying these files are completely removed from Wuala.

How will my data be stored?

For the backup process Wuala uses the incremental backup technology. This means that only the files that were changed or added from the last backup are going to be saved.
