Google Tech Talk
After we launched the closed alpha in September 2007, we presented Wuala at Google in Mountain View. The tech talk gives a overview over the architecture and the concept of Wuala. Since then, Wuala has grown significantly, both in terms of users, but also in terms of our team and our development efforts.
One of the important differences to the somewhat outdated tech talk is that we now do a full backup of all files - in encrypted form - on our servers. We have built up a robust server infrastructure which guarantees that all files are always available.
Nevertheless, Wuala still profits significantly from the grid storage network. We do a complete, redundant backup on our servers, but when it comes to downloading, it tries to get as many fragments as possible from the grid. This reduces our outgoing bandwidth and also electrical power significantly, which drives down our costs so that we can provide you with a better service.
