Introducing: LaCie CooKey and LaCie WhizKey with Wuala Inside

We are proud to announce our first joint product: Wuala has been integrated into the newly lanuched LaCie CooKeys and LaCie WhizKeys.

The eyecatching USB flash keys come with a capacity of up to 32GB and an additional 4GB of online storage on Wuala for two years. This offers you a unique storage experience: Your data at your fingertips, a secure offsite backup and the ability to share digital content with just one click.

More information can be found on the product page, the press release or head to the stores to get your own key.

Congratulations!

When can we expect full grown external hard drives with Wuala pre-installed and the same amount of Wuala-space as the HAD itself?

Apart from the Wuala storage, the idea is also quite nice - even though my keyring is already so full that it would be a bit strange to have a USB-key + a bunch of others attached to my computer I can imagine that other people really appreciate such a design.

Regarding the Lacie HDD with Wuala storage, I found this article: http://www.techshout.com/hardware/2010/09/lacie-demonstrates-new-network-storage-server-at-ces/

I hope that I'm not spoiling anything ;)

Does this also make you a Pro User for two years? Looks very cool :)

Hi Nuno,

No, it doesn't make you a Pro user for two years.
However, it is really cool ;)

Cheers,
Oona

What happens after the 2 years? Can it be renewed? And do you need a second Wuala account for the online storage you get with the key or can you add it to your personal storage?

I'm not from the Wuala team, but I think that you can add the storage to your account. It wouldn't make sense to have to create another account...

Regarding the 2 years, after that time you can buy storage, trade storage or buy another USB key ;)

Nuno is right. You can add the storage you get with the key to your existing Wuala account.
After the storage expires, you can trade or buy additional storage.

What happens after the two years? Can you renew your storage? Other question, if I already have a account and buy that key, do I need to open a extra account for it? Thx for answering. Thumbs up, it looks very nice!

After two years, you may renew your storage.
If you buy the key, you may add the storage to your existing Wuala account.

I'm using the 8Gb IAMAKey drive for few months and I was curious does Wuala service is available only for newly bought key drives or I could use that feature too (there was no Wuala app on my key)?

Unfortunately, it is only available for newly bought keys such as the CooKey and the WhizKey :(
I'm sorry!
